Company Overview: This is another small but well-established mystery shopping company that has yet to be noticed by many shoppers. It has a niche that is different than the major industries covered by other MSCs like banking, restaurants, or hotels.
New Image Marketing Research Corporation, otherwise referred to as NIM in this article, has been a player in this industry for a long time. It was founded in 1989, and prides itself in having 20 plus years in compiling market research.
NIM has its main offices in Fort Meyers, Florida.
This MSC has an extensive list of clients published on its website. The majority of these are gas stations and convenience stores. Additionally, NIM offers many ID, alcohol, and tobacco compliance evaluations. These are a great way for a younger shopper to jump into mystery shopping, as compliance assignments are usually fairly easy with decent pay.
Signing up with this MSC is fairly easy. NIM is using the Prophet software platform to operate its site. Therefore, any shopper that has registered with any other MSCs on this platform will find that the registration process is very similar.
Go to www.nimresearch.com to register. Click on the “Products and Services” tab. From the pull-down menu, choose “Mystery Shopping”. Click on the “shopper page” link at the bottom of the page. Then click on the “Shopper Registration Page” link. Sign the agreement, and you can then start the actual application process.
Open assignment opportunities can be found by performing searches on your home page on the NIM website or from email notifications. Occasionally assignments are posted on the Mystery Shop Forum job board.
Payment is made by check. For assignments completed the first part of the month – from the 1st to the 22nd – a check will be sent out on the 1st of the next month. For assignments completed in the latter part of the month – the 23rd to the end of month – a check will be sent out on the 1st of the month following the next month.
For example, if you completed an assignment between January 1st and the 22nd, you will be paid on February 1st. If you completed an assignment later in the month, between January 23rd and the end of the month, you will be paid on March 1st.
Shoppers on www.mysteryshopforum state that NIM assignments go fast. Some say that there are assignments aren’t even posted, but are given to favored shoppers. Although this isn’t a new practice in our industry, some shoppers are disappointed when they have taken a remote assignment as a favor to a scheduler, only to find themselves locked out of other assignments in their immediate locale due to rotation rules. This doesn’t compel shoppers to want to take the out-of-the-way assignments.
Only one complaint was posted on the forum regarding non-payment. After researching the issue, it appears that it was due to the poster not following guidelines. This MSC changes instructions frequently, and usually shoppers have to retrain for an assignment each time.
All others stated that pay was timely and fair. Reports are described as being easy and straightforward. Forum members have repeatedly said that they would recommend this MSC. Schedulers are easy to work with. Assignment instructions are clear.
NIM has ended up on lists of favorite companies posted on the forum. More than a few said this is an excellent company that they enjoy working with.
Personal Experience: This MSC has not yet posted any assignment opportunities in my area.
